You cannot truly benefit from something
… that you are not actually part of.
And, you will not become part of anything
… when there is an IF in the equation!
Why? Because not only is trust lost,
… but truth is in fact compromised,
with the simple result that
… the way for corruption has been opened!
For instance …
If you want to benefit from God’s promises,
… but you are not willing to trust God, saying,
… ‘God, if you will heal me,’
… ‘God, if you will secure that job for me.’
There is NO faith in this
… and God is not likely to respond.
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting
… for let not that man suppose that he
will receive anything from the Lord;
he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
James 1 6-8
Your trust has to be in God alone … (faith in Him)
… that is what opens the way into His kingdom,
then you will also have trust in His promises,
… and that is when,
And my God shall supply all your need
according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4 19
With … No IFs and No BUTs
… your MAN!
When Jesus saw a sick man at the pool of Bethesda,
He asked him…
Do you want to be made well?
The sick man answered Him,
‘Sir, I have no man
to put me into the pool when the water is stirred’.
Jesus’ response was … ‘Let me be your man!’
saying to him, ‘Rise, take up your bed and walk’.
John 5 5-9
Jesus has always wanted to be the answer,
… to be the One to help us in our need.
Do you want Him to be your Man?
… Do you want Him to be your answer?
… Will you allow Him to do what you cannot do?
Like the leper, all you need do is – ASK!
And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying,
‘Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.’
Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying,
‘I am willing; be cleansed.’
Matthew 8 2-3
Jesus’ answer was and still is,
… I AM WILLING …
Do you want Jesus to help you?
He is willing …
All you need to do is believe and ask!
So that He can also be – your MAN!
… what then?
When things go wrong in life,
… don’t talk about what you have done wrong,
… or about where you missed it,
but look at what you should do … now!
You cannot change what has happened,
but you can influence what is to come!
The answer is not found in what went wrong,
… or in analysing whether you were right or not.
but in doing what you should have done in the first place,
… by going to God for help!
Call to Me, and I will answer you,
and show you great and mighty things,
which you do not know.
Jer 33 3
How do you do that?
By drawing close to God,
… to that place where YOU can hear Him,
and where He can show you what to do.
But where is that place?
… exactly where Jesus said it is,
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you,
you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
John 15 7
That place where it’s not about what you think or want,
… but where you let Him tell you what He thinks,
where He can and will confirm His Word to you!
To say faith works is easy,
… but HOW does it actually operate?
How does faith make what you believe happen?
A woman once came to a pastor (Bill Winston) asking him
what to do about the drug dealers in her street?
He said, ‘well let’s ask God what to do!’
… ‘Anoint oil and pour it down the middle of the street’
The woman was desperate and actually did that!
Four days later she told the pastor,
… ‘They came back the next day,
… left after only an hour and never returned!’
How did that happen?
Because of her act of faith!
… God works by faith, our faith.
God needs us to obey what He says,
… so He can use it to give us the desired answer.
It wasn’t the oil, it was her obedience, her faith in His word!
And all these blessings shall come upon you
and overtake you, because
you obey the voice of the Lord your God:
Deuteronomy 28 2
Too often we concern ourselves with
… how will God make that work,
when all that’s important is that He WILL do it!
BUT are we willing to listen and obey?
If you are willing and obedient,
You shall eat the good of the land;
Isaiah 1 19
… of faith!
What did James mean when he said…
Thus also faith by itself,
if it does not have works, is dead.
James 2 17
Evidently, what we do and why we do it
… does have spiritual and physical importance!
The things we do in the natural,
… in our own strength,
are works that are subject to physical laws,
… the result of which is governed by natural laws.
knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law
but by faith in Jesus Christ …
for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
Gal 2 16
This clearly tells us that what we do in our own strength,
… does NOT activate spiritual laws.
So how do spiritual laws get activated and work?
Spiritual laws are based on what God has done,
and are activated by standing on and responding to,
… what God has prepared,
… what Jesus has done,
… what the Holy Spirit makes happen!
Yes there are physical actions and manifestations,
… in response to our faith, to what we believe.
… they are all based or founded on spiritual laws
and not our actions in trying to get God to do something
… THAT IS ALREADY DONE!
… or not!
How does one become righteous?
Because to stop sinning seems impossible!
Truth is that …
Righteousness and sin are total opposites,
… and not sinning won’t make you righteous anyway!
So what do I need to do?
What you need to do about sin,
… is NOT to try to stop sinning,
because that is impossible for man!
What you need to do about righteousness,
… is NOT trying to live right.
The reality of becoming righteous,
… is NOT about what you do or do not do,
but it is all about what Jesus has done!
Just as Jesus did not become sin by sinning,
… so also,
we don’t become righteous by doing righteous things!
Jesus became sin by taking our sin on the cross,
… and because of His righteous act on our behalf,
we become righteous by receiving His righteousness,
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us,
that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
2 Corinthians 5 21
despite the cost!
Is it possible that God is in any way limited?
Believe it or not, He is,
… by His own decisions.
For the one thing that limits God’s infiniteness
… is the limit He put on it Himself,
in giving man a free will.
God honours our choices,
… even when they are wrong,
… and even when they hurt us.
However, because of His infinite love for us,
God has a plan to help us when we missed it,
… to make the best of our bad decision.
That however requires that we use our free will,
… to accept His revised plan,
… and get back to where we should have been
where God planned for us to be in the first place.
Yes, there may be costly consequences
.. because of our wrong decisions,
but if we allow God to guide us back into His perfect plan,
… He can and will limit the cost to us!
Listen to counsel and receive instruction,
that you may be wise in your latter days.
Proverbs 19 20
… for if you judge what there is,
… or judge what is happening,
you get sucked into the problem!
In any or every situation
Take every thought and every picture captive,
… bringing them under His Lordship,
… bringing them under the Word of God!
casting down arguments and every high thing
that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,
bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
2 Corinthians 10 5
Pray for what there should be,
… what the Word of God says,
… that God’s will and purposes be done.
That will lift you above the situation,
… to that place where God’s Word is the standard,
and where what you say
… is what there should be,
… is what you want,
and is the answer to the situation!
Judge not, that you be not judged.
For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged;
and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.
Matthew 7 1-2
Try as we may (and we do) …
we can’t really make things happen in our lives
… the way we want or need them to happen.
We can however ALLOW them to happen
… in the way they should happen,
by letting God do His will in our lives!
Truth is …
God does not do things in our lives
… just because something is wrong or we have a need.
For God to do something in our lives
… we need to go to Him and open our lives to Him,
before He will make things happen in our lives!
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
James 4 8
In other words,
… God does not push you,
… God wants to lead you!
For then He can do in your life
… those things that you need in your life.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
Psalms 23 1-2
… get connected!
Do you want things to change in your life?
Life to become better
… and to be all the Bible says that it should be?
Then get connected.
Getting connected with God
… is not about having your needs or wants met,
but it is about a relationship with Him.
I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Heb 8 10
God wants to be your God,
not primarily to do what you can’t do in your own strength,
… but to change your life from the inside out.
God not only wants to hear your voice,
… He wants to see your face.
God wants you to come into His presence,
… to be close,
… to enjoy fellowship together,
to be your ‘Daddy’.
You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16 11
