Why does God do…

… what He does for you?

Why does God do in our lives what He does?

Simply because He loves us
The Bible also tells us …

Now hope does not disappoint, because
the love of God has been poured out in our hearts
by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
      Rom 5 5

Therefore God says to us, in fact implores us to …

seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,
and all these things shall be added to you.
      Matt 6 33

What are we to seek?
God, His love for us, and
how He wants to express that love through us!

And we have known and believed the love that God
      has for us
. God is love, and he who abides in love
abides in God, and God in him.
      1 John 4 16

What does that mean in our lives?
God knows we need love, we need Him,
so He made it easy for us …

We love Him because He first loved us.
      1 John 4 19

Yes God loved us first,
… all we need do is to love Him back,
by loving those around us!

When things go wrong

                                                 … what then?

When things go wrong in life,
… don’t talk about what you have done wrong,
… or about where you missed it,
but look at what you should do … now!

You cannot change what has happened,
but you can influence what is to come!

The answer is not found in what went wrong,
… or in analysing whether you were right or not.
but in doing what you should have done in the first place,
by going to God for help!

Call to Me, and I will answer you,
and show you great and mighty things,
      which you do not know.
      Jer 33 3

How do you do that?
By drawing close to God,
… to that place where YOU can hear Him,
and where He can show you what to do.

But where is that place?
… exactly where Jesus said it is,

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you,
you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
      John 15 7

That place where it’s not about what you think or want,
but where you let Him tell you what He thinks,
where He can and will confirm His Word to you!

Fill your mind…

                                            … with His goodness!

What you will find when you read God’s Word,
… very much depends on what you are looking for.
If you are looking for His judgement,
… that is what you’ll find.
If you are looking for His goodness,
… you’ll surely find a loving God.
In fact, the way God will work in your life,
… depends on how you respond to Him.

If you see God as harsh and judgemental,
… your thinking will be negative
thus your relationship with Him will be negative.

If you see God as the loving God that He is,
… you will open yourself to His goodness,
and His promises become a reality in your life.

What you have done wrong in your life
… does not phase God,
for in Jesus that is all taken care of,
… all you need do is to let Him in!

for love will cover a multitude of sins.
      1 Peter 4 8

As you allow God Himself into your life
… and as you let His presence envelop you,
He will surround you with His love
and He will fill your life with his goodness.

      In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
      Psalms 16 11

How faith …

                                                 … works!

To say faith works is easy,

… but HOW does it actually operate?
How does faith make what you believe happen?

A woman once came to a pastor (Bill Winston) asking him
what to do about the drug dealers in her street?
He said, ‘well let’s ask God what to do!’
      God said,
… ‘Anoint oil and pour it down the middle of the street’
The woman was desperate and actually did that!
Four days later she told the pastor,
… ‘They came back the next day,
… left after only an hour and never returned!’

How did that happen?
Because of her act of faith!
… God works by faith, our faith.
God needs us to obey what He says,
… so He can use it to give us the desired answer.
It wasn’t the oil, it was her obedience, her faith in His word!

And all these blessings shall come upon you
      and overtake you, because
you obey the voice of the Lord your God:
      Deuteronomy 28 2

Too often we concern ourselves with
how will God make that work,
when all that’s important is that He WILL do it!
BUT are we willing to listen and obey?

If you are willing and obedient,
      You shall eat the good of the land;
      Isaiah 1 19

A Personal …

                                            … relationship!

A personal relationship is not a relationship
… where you are setting the pace
… where you are determining the goal,
and what you want or desire is foremost,

But a personal relationship is one in which
… you are free to open yourself to the other
… free to receive from each other
where you can give yourself without expectations
… simply as you are without any conditions.

God, who is love, is reaching out to us,
… and He desires to have not just a personal
… but an intimate relationship with us.

A relationship through which He can give into our lives
without any conditions or expectations.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and comes down from the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
      James 1 17

And all we need do is to say
thank you Lord, here am I.

An eternal vision

                                                 … for life!

If your vision in life is centred
… on what you expect for tomorrow,
then your past will dominate your thinking
and your past will dominate your future.

Because everything that you have not accomplished
… or what you have planned but not achieved,
will be uppermost on your mind
… and will control your thinking.

      Stop limiting yourself to tomorrow!

However …
If your vision in (for) life is based in eternity
… then the past becomes irrelevant.

Because then you have all of eternity
… to do and achieve what is in your heart.
      And more pertinently
… you have all of eternity with God,
to let God do His part in your life!

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,
says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil,
to give you a future and a hope.
      Jer 29 11

Having pride…

                                          … or simply proud?

There is nothing wrong in having pride,
… pride in what you have done,
and being proud of an achievement.
But not when that pride
… is in self and in being self-sufficient.

      Pride goes before destruction,
and a haughty spirit before a fall.
      Prov 16 18

Pride is most often only about self,
… having too high an opinion of oneself,
… seeing oneself as better than others,
and is mostly fictitious,
because it is all about you and you alone!

you should be proud and not boastful of your achievements,
… appreciative of what you are able to do,
and grateful of being that person
… that God made you to be!

Not prideful in your own estimation (who you think you are)
… but proudly standing for who you are (in Him).

Proud of what you are able to achieve,
… touching and building the lives of others
in Him, with Him and for Him!

A rough…

                                                 … diamond!

We are so quick to judge others
… by what we presume their characters to be
based on what we can see or hear,
… when all we truly know is what is on the outside.

If you have ever seen a un-cut diamond
… you will know that what you see
is NOT the true value or character of that stone.

When God looks at us what does He see?
Not a worthless looking un-cut diamond (that we see),
… but a sparkling jewel that only needs polishing.

What is the difference?

Unless we look for value in others,
… all we see are their faults and weaknesses,
and therefore we judge by the negative we see.

When God looks at us He only sees the positive,
… the value and potential in us,
not judging our faults or weaknesses
… but highlighting our strengths, potential and value!

Start looking past what is wrong,
… past what you see on the outside,
… by looking for the pure that is on the inside.
As you start highlighting that hidden value,
… not only will it cover, but even dispel what is wrong,
by building on and developing what is good, what is pure!

And above all things have fervent love for one another,
for ‘love will cover a multitude of sins.’
      1 Peter 4 8

Expect the impossible

                                                    … to actually happen!

When we think of God and what He can do,
… we expect the impossible to be possible!
Yet, when we go to God,
… we go to Him with our wants,
… with what we can visualize or see Him do.
So where then is His impossible,
… that impossible that we talk about,
when in fact we limit Him to what we can see or believe?
God cannot truly be GOD in your life
… unless you let HIM be GOD in your life!

When God looks at our lives
… and at our circumstances or needs,
He doesn’t see what we see,
He sees what He has planned and purposed,
… what He can do and what He has promised.

if you want to have and live what God promised in His Word,
… you need to start seeing things the way He sees them.
God’s promises are not just words in a book,
… but are His express will for your life!

When you start taking God at His Word,
… believing what He says,
… seeing what He sees, the way He does things,
that is when faith becomes real.

And my God shall supply all your need
according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
      Phil 4 19

A gift…

                                                    … is a gift!

A gift is exactly that – A GIFT,
… not something you deserve or can make happen,
but often comes with potential or presents an opportunity.
… unless a gift is received,
… unless a gift is used,
it will simply end up being useless!

The secret of a gift lies in this that
… YOU are not responsible for it
… YOU don’t have to make it work!
… YOU have to receive it,
… YOU have to use it in your life!

And God’s gifts to us are no different…

      Like any other gift …
you must receive and open His gifts,
… the gifts that God has prepared for you,
… and that Jesus gave His life so that you may have.

Sure you can’t make God’s gifts work
but God wants to make it work in your life.
All you need do is to say ‘Thank You’,
… and receive what has been prepared for you!

      The gift of Life.
      The gift of Righteousness.

I have come that they may have life,
and that they may have it more abundantly.
      John 10 10

They are yours … take them.
