… puffs up!

Knowledge has great potential.

We know that we all have knowledge.
Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.
      1Cor 8 1

Yes knowledge does have potential,
however too often that knowledge is limited,
… to what we have seen, read or heard,
which on its own so easily leads to judgment!

And if anyone thinks that he knows anything,
he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.
      1Cor 8 2

It’s therefore about how accurate or complete your knowledge is
… and how you use or apply that knowledge.

      In other words,
the proper or correct use of knowledge
… does not only provide good and practical answers,
but also builds lives and impacts people.

And you do that by loving instead of judging!

      Love edifies.
If you reach out to others,
… and use your knowledge to their benefit,
not only will others be blessed,
… but you will have developed your own self,
      and have planted seed,
… seed that will bring you a harvest.

But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.
      1Cor 8 3

The Source

                                                    … of life!

One of the most powerful statements in the Bible is …

I have come that they may have life,
and that they may have it more abundantly.
      John 10 10

The question is
… how do we get, and how do we live, that life?

And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life.
He who comes to Me shall never hunger,

and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
      John 6 35

Jesus was obviously not talking about physical life
but spiritual life – in Him,
that, if we receive that from Him,
our lives are totally changed!

      Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
      old things have passed away;
behold, all things have become new.
      2 Cor 5 17-18

And it is as we receive what Jesus has prepared,
as we partake of that life in Him,
… and live our lives through Him,
that we step into that life more abundant.

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you,
you will ask what you desire,
and it shall be done for you.
      John 15 7

Step into the source,
… the source of life that is in Him!

Acknowledge Him

                                          in all your ways!

In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct your paths.
      Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and depart from evil.
It will be health to your flesh,
      and strength to your bones.
      Prov 3 6-8

What a wonderful promise.
How will it happen?
Often when you start believing and trusting God
… for your health, wisdom, opportunities or prosperity,
… that’s when everything seems to go wrong.
Your mind gets bombarded with divisive and negative thoughts,
… and even negative people trying to influence you.

So what do you do?
How do you acknowledge God in all your ways?
By doing what the Bible tells us to do,

casting down arguments and every high thing
that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,
bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
      2Cor 10 5

You stand against those thoughts,
… by countering them with what God’s Word says.
That is how you acknowledge God,
… and allow Him to direct your path through His Word,
That is not being wise in your own eyes,
… when you follow His instructions and do things His way!

And …
It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.
      Prov 3 8

                                                … in Life?

Things do go wrong in life,
… but with every problem or challenge
God gives us a way out,
when we ask!

‘Call to Me, and I will answer you,
and show you great and mighty things,
      which you do not know.’
      Jer 33 3

But, if we do not act on God’s instruction,
… or take the opportunity He gives us,
do not expect things to change
… or to have the victory over that problem!

      Yes God will answer,
      … but are you listening,
… are you even expecting an answer?

Yes God will show you the solution,
… but are you expecting His input
and are you ready to act upon His instruction?

If not, you will simply remain where you are,
… not knowing what to do,
and not having the victory God has for you!

So … got a problem?

      So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
      Isa 55 11

If God is love

                                     … what about hell?

If God’s love for us is eternal,
… then how can anyone go to hell for eternity?

Since God is love, hell is certainly NOT His plan.
However, LOVE is only real and effectual,
… where it is accepted, and where it is valued.

The parable of the prodigal son (the son of Love)
… clearly pictures this reality for us – (Luke 15 11-24)

The prodigal son (mankind) decided to be his own source,
… took what was given to him by the father (Love) and
separated himself from Love (from the source of life).
It wasn’t long before what the son saw as heaven,
… turned out to be hell,
feeding pigs and no one caring about him!

So he decided to return to the father,
… only expecting to be treated as a servant.
Yet the father already saw him from afar,
… and with no set conditions or any expectations,
… ran out to meet his son and embraced him,
… restoring him, as his son, the son of his love!
      That is LOVE!

When we decide to separate ourselves from love
… we separate ourselves unto hell!

God’s will for us is love, is life…

I have come that they may have life,
and that they may have it more abundantly.
      John 10:10

A living example

                                     …imitating Him!

Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not depart from it.
      Proverbs 22 6

A well known proverb,
… but have we really understood what it means?

Is training your child according to God’s principles,
… telling them how they should live
and when they are old they will live right?

Well that is our interpretation,
but is it God’s interpretation?

Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
      1 Corinthians 11 1

God wants us to lead by example,
by living our lives before our children
… according to His principles,
so our children will see in our example
… how God’s principles are lived.

      Then, when they are old,
… they will live what has become real to them,
because they not only heard it from you,
… but experienced and saw it real – in you!

                                           … or not!

      How does one become righteous?
Because to stop sinning seems impossible!

Truth is that …
Righteousness and sin are total opposites,
… and not sinning won’t make you righteous anyway!

So what do I need to do?

What you need to do about sin,
… is NOT to try to stop sinning,
because that is impossible for man!

What you need to do about righteousness,
… is NOT trying to live right.

The reality of becoming righteous,
… is NOT about what you do or do not do,
but it is all about what Jesus has done!

Just as Jesus did not become sin by sinning,
      … so also,
we don’t become righteous by doing righteous things!

Jesus became sin by taking our sin on the cross,
and because of His righteous act on our behalf,
we become righteous by receiving His righteousness,

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us,
that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
      2 Corinthians 5 21

Walking in faith

                                           … a journey!

Our faith walk is a journey,
… a journey of discovering more & more of God
… and of Jesus and what He has done for us!

However is your search
… for Him, or about Him?
What are you looking for?

Are you looking for His promises?
Are you looking for His works?
      or …
      Are you looking for Him?

The reality of faith
… is to get to know Jesus more intimately,
The substance of faith
… is your response to what you see in Him!

If you see salvation in Him,
      … you will find salvation!
If you see healing in Him,
      … you will find healing!
If you see wisdom in Him,
      … He becomes your wisdom!

Our faith walk is not about looking for blessings,
but about walking with the One who blesses!

for in Him we live and move and have our being,
      Acts 17 28

Does fear…

                                     … disappear!

For God has not given us a spirit of fear,
      2 Tim 1:7

God has not given us a spirit of fear,
but that does not mean
… that fear will not try to come upon us,
… that fear will not try to take hold of our minds.
Not at all,
… fear is always trying to come into our lives!

What the Bible does say is that,
… we have not been given a spirit of fear,
so fear is NOT part of our makeup.
However that does not make it disappear,
… as it is up to us whether we allow it to stay,
… and allow it to take hold of our minds.

In other words,
we need to reject what is NOT ours,
and stand against those thoughts, by

casting down arguments and every high thing
that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,
      bringing every thought into captivity
      to the obedience of Christ,
      2 Cor 10:5

As it is written …

For God has not given us a spirit of fear,
but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
      2 Tim 1:7

Let Him be your strength, your source and your guide
… and fear will find no place in you!

Damage control…

                                     despite the cost!

Is it possible that God is in any way limited?
Believe it or not, He is,
… by His own decisions.
For the one thing that limits God’s infiniteness
… is the limit He put on it Himself,
in giving man a free will.

      God honours our choices,
… even when they are wrong,
… and even when they hurt us.
However, because of His infinite love for us,
God has a plan to help us when we missed it,
… to make the best of our bad decision.

That however requires that we use our free will,
… to accept His revised plan,
… and get back to where we should have been
where God planned for us to be in the first place.

Yes, there may be costly consequences
.. because of our wrong decisions,
but if we allow God to guide us back into His perfect plan,
He can and will limit the cost to us!

Listen to counsel and receive instruction,
that you may be wise in your latter days.
      Proverbs 19 20
