Getting to love … God

We all want to have that knowledge or confidence
… that God knows us.

But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him
      1Cor.8 3

So the question is…
How do we love God?

The same way He loved you,
… by giving His all, His life (in Jesus) for you!
You give all that you are – to Him!

How do you do that?
You believe that you are loved,
and you start living love!

      You give Him your hands,
… the things you do, you do for Him.
      You give Him your thoughts,
… you put your decisions in His hands.
      You give Him your eyes,
… you look where you can do something for Him.
      You give Him your actions,
… you reach out in love to His creation
      You give Him your heart,
… in which He already shed His love,

Beloved, if God so loved us,
we also ought to love one another.
      1 John 4 11

A reasonable excuse…

                                    …or lying to yourself?

What do we do or say
… when things went wrong
… or when we did something wrong?
We make excuses!

      However are those excuses valid
… or are we lying to ourselves?

But … I don’t lie to myself!

      The reality is that,
… every time we make an excuse
… we are lying to our self!

An excuse is simply a justification,
… trying to justify something
… that was actually NOT right in the first place.

It is covering up the truth,
… instead of facing what is wrong
      and doing what is right!

Whereas … when you give a reason
why something is as it is,
your are exposing the truth.
… as well as what actually happened,
thus taking the responsibility,
… so that what there should be, can be!

For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed,
nor hidden that will not be known.
      Luke 12 2

Small faith – Big results

                                    …a seed in the ground!

Faith is not just about big things
in fact faith is really always about the small things.

So often we ask of God,
… then we wait for an answer from God
and as often it seems that nothing is happening,
… and that God also is not saying anything!

God always answers,
and He will supply our need according to His riches.
So why then do I not hear?
Why is nothing happening?

God’s Kingdom is based on the principle of
seedtime and harvest (Gen. 8:22)
As Jesus explained in so many of His parables,
… and He even compared faith to a seed.

if you have faith as small as a mustard seed,
you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’
and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you
      Matt 17 20

It seems that God mostly answers our prayers
… and our request, by giving us a seed.
A seed, that if we receive it and plant it
… then He will take us to the next step of His answer!
As the Bible also says,

Now may He who supplies seed to the sower,
      and bread for food,
supply and multiply the seed you have sown
and increase the fruits of your righteousness
      2 Cor 9:10

The absence of…

                                 …what is real!

There are many things that actually are not,
… yet are perceived by us as real.
Such as for instance darkness.
We so often even say this darkness is so thick
… you can cut it with a knife!

      However, darkness is a non-entity,
… and if you don’t believe that,
… then go ahead and prove it as being real!
Well at least you can try!

Go into a room that is full of light,
and switch on darkness!!!
You cannot, no matter how you try,
… it is simply impossible,
because there is NO switch to turn darkness on or off!

So, what then is darkness?
Darkness is quite simply the absence of light,
and therefore, if you want darkness,
… you have to switch off light!
In other words, you have to remove light,
… or remove yourself from the light.

Look up at the sky at night,
… what do you ‘SEE’?
Nothing – except where something actually reflects light,
… like the moon, stars, etc.
Otherwise all there is, is NOTHING,
a nothing that we call darkness!

      Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you;
he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.
      John 12 35

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light
we have fellowship with one another…
      1 John 1 7

A vision – for the future

                                       where do you see yourself?

What vision do you have for your life?
What plans are you making?

      In other words …
      Where do you see yourself?
      Because, where you see yourself
… is where you are going to land up.

Our minds are always active,
… continually making pictures.

Pictures that we need to look at,
random thoughts that we need to consider,
… where do they come from?

In fact, Scripture urges us to …
      take every thought captive
      2 Cor 10 5

For not every thought is positive
… nor is every picture of real value,
and should not simply be acted upon,
… but scrutinized in relation to a standard or value.

Therefore Scripture urges us to bring those thoughts …
into the structure of life shaped by Christ.
      2 Cor 10 5 (The Message)

Then our thoughts will have focus and structure,
… our plans will have potential,
and our vision will lead us
into the fullness of His blessings.

Under pressure…?

                                      Check those thoughts out!

Our minds are constantly busy with impressions
… and being bombarded with thoughts,
which tends to put us under pressure
… to have to respond or make a decision.

      What exactly are those thoughts?
They are impressions or pictures that our minds make
… based on what we saw, heard or were asked.
However so often there is a pressure to make a decision,
… even though the picture may still be unclear!
Do not run into a picture you have not checked out
… or that you have not obtained outside information on.

Do not allow any kind of demand to pressurize you
… into making a decision or giving an answer
before that picture has become clear
… and you have gained some independent input!

by bringing every thought into captivity
      to the obedience of Christ
      2 Corinthians 10 5

Take your picture to Jesus,
… and let Him show you what you’ve not seen.
He will make the picture clear, the pressure disappear
… and give you peace to make the right decision.

      Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you;
not as the world gives do I give to you.
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
      John 14 27

Partaker or …

                                                 … a participant?

We all want to benefit from things in life.

      Question is though,
… what does it take to truly benefit from what is available?
Is it by being a partaker or a participant?

If you are a partaker, what are you really?
… You are someone who wants to profit from what there is!
… You see what is available as an opportunity to benefit!
Nothing wrong with that…
however, as a partaker you are dependent on others,
on what others say and do, or don’t do,
and most of the time you will not truly benefit!

On the other hand, if you are a participant,
      … you are actively involved,
… you are part of making it happen.
Dependable – and not dependent on others!
Making it work – not expecting others to make it happen.

And the Apostle James says exactly the same…

Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
      James 2 17

If you want to partake of God’s promises,
… but are not actively living God’s Word,
then you are not a participant in the things of God.

Of course God will always reach out to us.
But only as we live the life His Word teaches us,
… do we become participants in what God is doing,
and partakers in all of His promises.

Damage control…

                                     despite the cost!

Is it possible that God is in any way limited?
Believe it or not, He is,
… by His own decisions.
For the one thing that limits God’s infiniteness
… is the limit He put on it Himself,
in giving man a free will.

      God honours our choices,
… even when they are wrong,
… and even when they hurt us.
However, because of His infinite love for us,
God has a plan to help us when we missed it,
… to make the best of our bad decision.

That however requires that we use our free will,
… to accept His revised plan,
… and get back to where we should have been
where God planned for us to be in the first place.

Yes, there may be costly consequences
.. because of our wrong decisions,
but if we allow God to guide us back into His perfect plan,
He can and will limit the cost to us!

Listen to counsel and receive instruction,
that you may be wise in your latter days.
      Proverbs 19 20

Setting Priorities

                                       … and stop negativity!

Time to stop being double minded!

For instance…
If you want or need a new smart phone,
… what do you do?

You go online and surf the net,
… to find out all you can about what is available,
… to find which one will benefit you the most!
Then you will find the best place and the best deal,
… and get yourself the best for you!

However when a personal issue comes up,
… a strained relationship or health issue,
… sudden pain somewhere in your body,
what do you do?

You take your super new smart phone,
… and do the dumbest thing ever,
You go surf the internet for hours,
to find whatever could in any way be wrong,
… looking for every possible negative cause,
… with serious or life threatening results
when more than likely there is no real cause!

Stop surfing hell – start surfing heaven!
– Google God –
Open His App – and enter Jer 33 3

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you
great and mighty things, which you do not know.
      Jeremiah 33 3

And get real smart answers on your smart phone,
… that will give you the smart solution to your every situation.

It’s up to …

                                              … YOU!

God wants to give you more than you ask!
God wants to bless you more than you expect!
However, whether that happens
is up to you, not God!

What does that mean?

Is God real enough to you,
… that He can get through to you?
Are you wanting a personal relationship with Him,
      … a relationship that’s real to you?

If you want your life to be all that you would like it to be,
… blessed, prosperous and full of wisdom,
… then first of all you need to be real … the real YOU.
That special you God created you to be,
… created in His image with a free will,
free to choose who you want to be,
… and free to choose what happens to you!

Unless you use your free will,
… allowing God into your life,
… and to take the lead in your life,
He will not be able to do in your life
… all that He planned and prepared for your life,
      that you may be …

      … totally saved
      … wholly healed
      … fully prosperous, in Him!

      I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing;
      therefore choose life,
      Deut 30 19
